It has been a pretty hot summer here in Edmonton. We personally love it, the warm sun beating down on us when we’re out jogging with dogs, but we own a large Pyrenees mix who has so much fur and takes a while to cool down. I figured why not test out some easy cold treats to help cool Mr. Koda off.
These were painless to make, unless you have troubles with a blender.
- Cottage Cheese
You will need:
- Ice cube trays
I did not measure out any ingredients. I free poured the strawberries, that I had previously cut up and frozen when they were on a crazy sale at H&W Produce here in YEG.
I had about a 1/2 cup of Cottage Cheese left that I threw in and then added about 1 cup of water. (Yes, dogs can have some cottage cheese if they don’t have issues with dairy.)
Mix up until no chunks are left, add more water if you think it’s needed and pour into ice cube trays and freeze.
Once frozen, pop them out and watch you dog enjoy!
You can also fill a Kong and freeze it to give your dog a bit of a challenge.
I wrapped our Kong in Saran Wrap, put it in a short glass, as seen above, filled it and froze it. Then let Koda indulge.
Hope your dogs enjoy this treat as much as Koda did!
