COVID-19 Service Protocol

Dog Care, Edmonton

Dog Jogs is currently open and operating at this time. To keep you, and our team safe, we have implemented a strict COVID 19 safety protocol outlined by Alberta Health Services. Please note that we have altered our hours of operation from Monday – Sunday from 9:00 am-9:00 pm, to 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

We understand it is an incredibly difficult time and want you to know that we are here to help. We are currently accepting new clients that need assistance caring for their pets but have changed our processes. In efforts to eliminate human to human contact, we are conducting virtual consultations in place of all in-home consultations. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, learn about your pets, address any questions or concerns, and determine whether we’re a good fit.

You’re probably wondering how we get to know your pets through this process. This is where you will have some homework to do for us before our virtual consultation. We will request that you send us a few videos showing us things like how to access to your home, your pet’s behaviours, where you keep pet supplies and how your pup walks on a leash. If you then feel like we are a good fit for you, our first service with your pet will also serve as an in-person evaluation of your pets and how they interact with our team.

Contact us for more information or to set up your virtual consultation.

Please read below for more details on how we are keeping you, your family, and our team safe during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Social Distancing

As much as we may sound like a broken record, we strongly agree that practicing social distancing and self isolation is the most effective preventative measure in limiting the spread of COVID-19. Our Joggers are ensuring that they maintain at least 2 meters physical distancing between any clients (if they are home) and anyone they may see during services.

Self Isolation

Both clients and joggers have been asked to immediately notify Dog Jogs if they or anyone in their household has presented symptoms of COVID 19, recently travelled, has been diagnosed with COVID 19 or has come into close contact with someone who is COVID 19 positive. In the event that clients have reported any of the above, we can continue services but only if we are able to arrange complete contactless pickup and drop off. We will also ensure all joggers are extra thorough with COVID protocols. Joggers who report any of the above, will be asked to stay home to self isolate, to contact 811 or AHS online and follow instructions on how to proceed.

How will this affect your pets services?

In order to protect your family and our team, we kindly ask that you disinfect all common areas/surfaces prior to our visit. This means cleaning door knobs, railings, closet door knobs, crate handles, leashes/harnesses, etc. If you are able to, please leave out disinfectant wipes/sprays so that we can sanitize your home before we head out.

What if I am home during services?

We totally get that your pet still needs social interaction and exercise during the day even if you are working from home. Our services help you remain productive without having the distractions of a pet that is craving your attention. In fact if you are home during services we ask that we practice social distancing within your home to reduce the risks of transmission and human interaction.

Currently we are requesting clients to have their pets out in their backyard or garage for pick up. If you do not have a backyard or garage we kindly ask that all walking supplies are left near the entrance and your pup is free to come greet us at the door. As much as we would love to chat, we ask that you do not greet us at the door.

What tools are we using to keep our team safe?

We have asked staff to follow more strict preventative measures to keep them safe.

All staff are asked to:

  1. Wash their hands frequently, before and after every service
  2. Utilize disinfectant wipes on all door knobs/crates, leashes/harnesses and common areas, before and after every service
  3. Use their own leashes if possible
  4. Wear a mask/face covering anytime they are in a client’s home, apartment or condo (with proper donning and doffing procedures)
  5. Wear latex or Nitrile gloves if need (with proper donning and doffing procedures)
  6. Use hand sanitizer in their vehicles before and after services/when washing isn’t an option
  7. Practice social distancing where needed (in client homes, during services, etc)
  8. To notify admin if they are not feeling well, stay home and to contact 811 for instructions on how to proceed

Please note that due to the fluidity of the novel virus COVID 19, we are constantly monitoring all safety requirements from our governing and health officials. We will continue to make any changes that are required as the situation evolves.

Wishing everyone the best during these times, please continue to stay safe and healthy!
