In your pursuit of the greatest job ever, you might have not considered being a Dog Walker or Jogger. If you are an animal lover who enjoys being outside, it would be a mistake not to add Dog Jogger to your job search roster. We may be biased, but we think it’s truly a great position, and here are a few reasons why!
The Health Benefits
Being a Dog Walker in Edmonton undoubtedly helps promote your mental and physical health. Our Dog Joggers spend multiple hours walking and running each shift, so they have no problem getting ten thousand steps a day. On top of the cardiovascular benefits associated with the job, our Dog Joggers spend their entire work day with adorable animals. We know that both exercise and interaction with animals release the chemical serotonin in our brains, so being a Dog Jogger is a legitimate mood and health booster!
Choose Your Own Schedule
We totally understand how crazy life can get, and how adhering to a super rigid work schedule can be difficult for many people. Most of our Dog Joggers work second jobs or are students in Edmonton; having flexibility in their schedule with us is helpful and allows our team to balance all of the other things going on in their lives. If you also value this flexibility and like to choose your own hours, you’ve got to join our team!
A Great Team
Being a Dog Jogger means you spend a lot of time working independently with Edmonton’s greatest pets. That doesn’t mean that our Dog Joggers aren’t part of a connected team! There are teammates ready at any time of the day to answer questions and give advice, share their cutest photos from services and tell funny stories, and we often organize group activities to help promote a real sense of community. Even though our Dog Joggers work alone, someone has always got their back.
We know you were waiting for this one. Being around pets all day is a lot of fun! Aside from all the laughs you will have and belly rubs you will give, our Dog Jogger’s quickly become an important part of many animals’ lives. We often hear that this is the most rewarding part of the position from our team. We get to watch puppies grow up into amazing dogs and create real bonds with pets all over the city. It’s kind of like being a cool aunt or uncle!
Constant Learning Experience
Another unique thing about being a Dog Walker in Edmonton is that you are providing high-level customer service and care to both humans and animals. That warrants plenty of learning experiences. Our team learns so much about dog behaviour every day and is constantly adding tips, tricks, and experiences into their toolboxes for future services. We also offer Pet-First Aid Classes which help boost our Dog Joggers’ preparedness and confidence in the field.
At Dog Jogs we pride ourselves on promoting a supportive and positive environment where you can boost your physical and mental health, work independently while still being part of a great team, have flexible hours, hang out with adorable pets, and constantly learn more about pet care. But we know this position is not for everyone! Our Dog Joggers are moving all day and taking care of fur babies with all sorts of complex needs and behaviours. It’s not always a walk in the park! (Well, technically it is, but you know what we mean!)
