Fall For These Paw-some Edmonton Activities!

Edmonton, Helpful Tips

It’s that time of the year again! You can’t deny that fall in Edmonton is stunning, but we all know it doesn’t last very long around here. That’s why you and your fur-baby have got to go for a fall adventure as soon as you can! From beautiful walks through gardens and trails, to short trips out of the city, to exploring markets, there is something for literally everyone and their dog to do this season. Here are our favourite pup-friendly fall activities in the Edmonton area!

The Edmonton Corn Maze

What an iconic fall outing! Located just southwest of the city, The Edmonton Corn Maze has fun for the whole family, including your pups. Get lost in over 5km of maze and try to navigate all of the tricky twists and turns. It’s no doubt that your pup will absolutely adore all the smells of the maze, and perhaps they will even help you find your way out! Once you’ve conquered the maze you can take a spin on the pedal carts, check out the farm market, and hang out on the hay bales. Dogs are of course more than welcome as long as they are on a leash. Check out the official site below for ticket info and directions!

Dog Jogs hit the Edmonton Corn Maze in 2020 for a staff event. Despite there being snow on the ground (classic Edmonton), the team and their pups still had a blast!

Stock up on Goodies at the Farmers Market

The Downtown Edmonton Farmers Market remains open outdoors until the Thanksgiving long weekend, so now is the perfect time to check out the various vendors with your fur-baby! From BC fruits to eggs to gifts to street food, this market really has it all. Currently, pups are only welcomed to the outdoor market, so make sure to head down before they shift inside for the season!

Hit the Off-Leash Park!

Edmonton is home to some excellent off-leash parks, and they are all the more fantastic when the trees are golden and changing. On the south side, you can head down to the Terwillegar Dog Park and take a walk on the beautiful trails. Make sure to listen to the sounds of those crunching leaves under paw and foot! Buena Vista Dog Park is another stunning spot with an expansive field and trails for your pups to zoom around on. If you’re feeling like a long autumn jog with your pup (because fall jogging is the best!!), you can run on paved trails all the way from the Terwillegar off-leash park to Buena Vista Park! Patricia Ravine, Mill Creek Ravine, and Dawson Park are a few more wonderful off-leash areas to check out. You might as well hit them all. Happy exploring!

Pick Some Apples

This activity is a real sweet treat! Take a trip out to Attracted2Apples near Fort Saskatchewan and pick some delicious apples for you and your family. With 800 apple trees and numerous apple varieties, the only thing that would make this activity perfect would be if it was pup-friendly. But wait… it is!! Pups are allowed on-leash inside the orchard fence, and off-leash outside the orchard fence. They have bins for pet waste as well. Head out there to get your apple fix this fall!

Day Trip to Wild Sculpture Trail

This scenic trail in Sundance Provincial Park makes for a wonderful day trip for you and your fur-family. Not only is this trail over 7km long and can make for a great family hike of any length, but you can explore magnificent hoodoos! These are pretty rare structures for Northern Alberta. Pack up the car and see what the trail has in store for you!

Take A Haunted Tour!

This entirely outdoor walking tour is the perfect activity for you and your pup. Stroll around the University of Alberta and learn about the various ghost stories, unexplained events, and urban legends of the area. This event runs every Wednesday and Thursday starting at 9 pm, and pups are more than welcome!
